The doctors tell me I came very close to coma last week. Due to an extreme reaction to Predisone (steroid), my blood sugar level spiked to 1200 last Monday. Consequently, I spent last week in a hospital ER, ICU and medical unit to rectify the situation.
Your prayers would be deeply appreciated.
I'll post more in the near future. The journey continues...
When I fired off an e-mail concerning the third Frankenstein novel by Dean Koontz, I really didn't expect a prompt response-- much less from Dean Koontz. But here it is:

Thank you for emailing me. I am overjoyed and overwhelmed by the letters and emails sent by readers, but appreciate the questions, kind words, and stories they contain.
You asked about the next Frankenstein book. Let me respond by sharing the answer I included in a recent Author Q&A column on my website- www.deankoontz.com.
This has to be the question you get most often. Two words: Frankenstein three. Oh, one other word: when? - Chao , DE
Writing the first two books, I discovered yet another character flaw in myself: I cant collaborate. None of the fault lies in those writers who tried to collaborate with me; they were great. But at the keyboard, I'm a fussy, stubborn, obsessive, impossible, single-minded, nutcase who can become homicidal over a disagreement over commas. When not at the keyboard, or course, I'm an absolute sweetie, with a temperament somewhere between Spongebob Squarepants and Barney the Dinosaur, and everywhere I go, admiring angels sing a processional before me.After finishing the first two books, I decided not to try again with a collaborator but to plunge into the third novel myself. Hurricane Katrina presented an unprecedented narrative problem. After the tragedy and suffering endured by the citizens of New Orleans, I could not bring myself to set loose Victor and his creations to wreak more havoc on the city, so I had to figure out how to include the hurricane and work around it in a graceful way. This slowed things down. But I expect to finish Book Three soon, hopefully, for publication 2008. No publishing date has been set. Next year will be a big year for the Frankenstein series. THE PRODIGAL SON will be published as a comic book series and a graphic novel.

I had a lot of fun watching today's marathon outdoor NHL game in Orchard Park, New York.
Lots of snow, sleet/rain & cold weather. Lots of hits and good scoring chances.
But Sidney and his Penguins finally prevail in a shootout. The NHL needs to do this more often!
