- Tease them mercilessly
- Show favoritism/ make unfair comparisons
- Be a hypocrite
- Be rigid
- Be consistently negative
- Incessant nitpicking, nagging, complaining
- Bully them
- Have unrealistic expectations
- Be emotionally distant
- Be inconsistent in discipline
- Don't discipline them at all
- Don't spend time with them
- Don't listen attentively
- Don't show concern, compassion, empathy
- Intentionally embarrass them in public
- Make promises you can't/won't keep
- Love them conditionally ("I will love you if....")
- Push off "your dreams" on them
- Be manipulative
