A season of deaths

My daughter got me hooked on Grey's Anatomy at the conclusion of Season Two by loaning me her DVDs one weekend.  I watched it and became an instant fan. Therefore, it shouldn't come as no surprise that I recently purchased Season Three (I purchased a copy for her too).

Having just watched all of Season Three, it dawned on me that it was a season of incessant deaths.  Here's what I mean:

• Izzie is recovering from the death of her finance
• Meredith's mom (and step mom) die
• Christina and Richard experience the death of a relationship
• Mark and Addison experience the death of a relationship
• The death of Derek and Addison's relationship is sealed
• George experiences the death of the dream to be a surgeon (failed exam)
• Miranda experiences the death of a dream (to be Chief Resident)
• The Chief experiences the death of a marriage; but it's resuscitated at season's end
• Izzie almost experiences the death of a friendship (George)
• Alex experiences the death of an opportunity (romance with Rebecca)
• Callie and George, if they're not careful, will experience the death of a relationship
• Several of the attendings experience the death of a dream (to be Chief)
• Alex and Addison's relationship dies as quickly as it starts.
• Derek and Meredith's relationship is left dangling-- hinting at another possible death.
• Richard and his wife experience the death of an unborn child (a boy).
• Isaac Washington experience the death of his gig on Grey's Anatomy with his gay slur.
• Addison spins off and Lexie Grey spins on.

I guess that's what I mean.  :-)

Hopefully, Season Four will be a season of births.

Heroes

I spent last weekend watching season 1 of Heroes.

Wow.  I've become an instant fan.  Instead of ending the season with a frustrating cliff-hangar, they brought closure to the season-long drama.  I really liked that.  Now, I'm looking forward to the beginning of season 2.

Mario Batali dropped by Food Network

I just learned that Chef Mario Batali was recently dropped by the Food Network.  I hate to see him leaving because of his spunky personality and his commitment to authentic Italian cuisine.

One punk under God
